Ciate For The Frill Of It

ciate for the frill of it haute house autumn 2014

If you’ll read my blog you know I bought the Ciate Haute House a few weeks ago and now I’m starting to wear the polishes from the collection. First up is For The Frill Of It which is a lovely shimmery copper colour. I think it looks really unusual, I don’t have a colour like this is in my collection.

A Tigi Christmas

tigi christmas 2014 colour charge resurrection

I think if you’re going to give hair care as a Christmas present, Tigi is one of the best brands to go for. Most people recognise Tigi because it’s sold in a lot of salons so they know it’s a quality product and there really is a gift for everyone in Tigi line.

The brand has recently launched their Christmas gift sets and I have a couple to show and some information on other sets available.

I have the Resurrection Kit which is the shampoo and conditioner duo of the Urban Antidotes in Level 3. I think this would be a perfect gift for someone who already uses the duo or maybe for someone who needs to give their hair a little bit of TLC after colouring and heat styling. It’s priced at £18.95 but the products are worth £24.95 and it’s available from here.

I also have the Colour Charge Duo which is the shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair. The products contain sweet almond oil to nourish and smooth the hair cuticle. Also the products smell like caramel. It’s priced at £19.95 but it’s worth £29.90 and it’s available from here.

There are also a couple of other gift sets in the line.

 tigi christmas 2014 party girl

First is the Party Girl gift set. It’s priced at £29.95 but it’s worth £45.85. It contains full sizes of the After Party which is a frizz smoothing cream, a full size Headrush which is a shine spray and a full Masterpiece hairspray. It’s available from here.

tigi christmas 2014 rise and shine

The last gift I have to show you is Rise and Shine which as the name suggests is designed for achieving big hair. It contains a full size Oh Bee Hive Dry Shampoo and a full size Headrush Shine Spray. Together both products are worth £29.90 but the gift is priced at £19.95. It’s available from here.

The brand has a few other gift sets, I really think there is a hair set for everyone from Tigi. Look Fantastic has all of the gift sets I think so I really recommend checking out the site.

Ciate Candy Cane House

Ciate is really knocking it out of the park this year with their “house” collection. I have two, The Dollhouse and I used it all spring and summer and I have the Haute House and I think it’s all I’ll be using all autumn and winter. Now, they’ve launched an amazing kit for Christmas, the Candy Cane House.

The Candy Cane House is a collection of four seasonal inspired polishes, they’re glitters that have a Christmassy scent and name.

Candy Cane Open

The white glitter is Snow Fall, the green and red glitter is Candy Craze, the gold is Tangled Tinsel and the multi-coloured glitter is Ginger Snap. I love the names and I think this set would be perfect for party season because it’s all the polishes you need.

It’s priced at £25 (link).

MUA Peel Off Base Coat

MUA Peel Off Base Coat

Whoever thought of a peelable base coat for nails, you are a genius and I salute you! I love me some glitter nail polishes but they’re a real pain to remove and now we’re getting closer to the festive season and its time to dig out the glitters again.

MUA has recently launched a peelable base coat and it does exactly what it says. I used this the other night with glitter polish and I managed to peel it off the next morning without any hassle. This isn’t the base coat you buy to use generally because polish will not last past a day at the most but its perfect for glitter.

I have a top tip for using this base coat, paint it on, let it set and then start painting the polish straight away as it will start to peel after a while when its on its own.

Have you tried it? Will you be buying it for the seasonal period?

Black Sparkly Heart Nail Art

black glitter heart nail art

The other day I wanted some sparkly nails but I also wanted a little big of nail art so I decided to combine the both and this is what I cam up with. I used Rimmel’s Black Cab nail polish as the base and I used Models Own’s Juicy Jules over the top for the glitter aspect. For the little hearts I used my trusty Barry M Nail Art Pen in White. If you want to try nail art I really recommend picking up the nail art pens because the Barry M ones are the best I’ve ever used, they make drawing super easy and precise/

Top 10 Under £10

Top 10 Under £10

There are so many products available under £10 in Boots and Superdrug so it can difficult deciding what products to buy. So, I thought I would give you a bit of help with some of my personal favourites.

In terms of base makeup, there isn’t many cheaper foundations I like because the foundations are always too dark for me or too cakey, however, Revlon Nearly Naked is really good, it’s perfect if you want light coverage and a natural finish and the shade range is great.

I don’t wear blusher everyday because I’m a little scared of it but when I do I tend to go for cream over powder and the Bourjois Cream Blushers are just lovely, they blend really easily and they look natural.

I think the drugstore is amazing for mascaras. The Bourjois One Seconde Mascara gives amazing volume and definition and it lasts all day without flaking or smudging. The Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara is a dual ended mascara, a wand for the upper lashes and a mini wand for the bottom lashes. I love this mascara because it gives amazing curl and volume and the two wands means it coats every lash.

My favourite drugstore liners are the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Liners, they last all day without smearing everywhere and I think they make a good dupe for the super expensive Nars liners.

For lips, I love the Maybelline Sensational Shine Glosses. If you’ve wanted to try the Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfectors, get one of the Maybelline glosses because the formula and finish is incredibly similar. I also really like the Revlon Lacquer Balms, everyone talks about the matte versions but I look awful in a matte lip so I love the glossy finish.

For nail polishes, I don’t think you can go wrong with Models Own and Barry M. Models Own are always launching new shade ranges and finishes of nail polish. The original formulas are great and if you like scented polishes, check out Peach Melba and Coconut. I know the Hyper Gel range got really mixed reviews but I really like them and I have about six and I’ve had no problems with them. Barry M Gelly polishes are also amazing, these are my favourite shades, Blueberry, Prickly Pear and Grapefruit. I have loads of the Gelly finishes, I think they’re fantastic.

If you’re looking for a new top coat, I think the best drugstore top coat is the Sally Hansen Inst-Dri top coat. It dries super quick to a really glossy, shiny finish and it doesn’t chip almost instantly, like some fast drying top coats (Sech Vite, I’m taking about you!).

What are your favourites under £10?

The Body Shop Colour Crush in Got The Blues

The Body Shop Colour Crush Got The Blues Nail Polish

Blue polish is pretty much my favourite nail polish shade, I wear it most of the time and I’m always looking to add to new shades to my collection. The Body Shop recently launched their Colour Crush collection of nail polishes. Like all of the Body Shop’s range, the polishes are designed without the nasties and they’re suitable for vegans. I bought a couple of shades my absolute favourite is Got The Blues.

Got The Blues is a beautiful cornflower blue shade. The formula is fab, the above picture is taken with only one coat and without a top coat. You can see how glossy the finish is and the opacity. Also, the brush is reasonably wide so it paints on in one stroke which is great for saving time.

The polishes are priced at £5 and there is a huge shade range. I’m really impressed by the polishes and I really recommend them.

What do you think? Have you tried The Body Shop’s new nail polishes?

Today’s post I think shows my new favourite nail polish. I love this shade and I think I’ll be wearing this all autumn. Gloucester Walk is a beautiful crème purple. Purple and blues are my absolute favourite polishes colours and I absolutely love this one and I can’t see my self wearing another shade for the foreseeable future. I love it!
